Island Connoisseur – George Damianos

With January marking 41 years since George Damianos became a realtor at the ripe age of 22 years it should come as little surprise that his portfolio boasts sales including Paradise Island’s Hurricane Hole, Portside Condominium complex and an archipelago of private island sales stretching from The Exumas to The Abacos to Eleuthera and the Berry Islands; needless to say his experience precedes him and is an accurate reflection of his integrity and the team which he presides over – not to mention the trade is in his blood. A career by default, Damianos is a second generation realtor who describes his introduction to the industry as a “real education” considering in 1973 – a year in to his career – The Bahamas gained independence from the United Kingdom. A time of significant changes, naturally, it was also a time when the company “prospered”. Given his response to the question regarding the biggest challenge Damianos Sotheby’s International Realty has faced to date, I should not be surprised by such resilience – his response was the least expected. Prepared for reference to 2008’s financial crisis George attributes the biggest change in the real estate market to the coming of the Information Age. He begs the question of what happens if you don’t rise to the changes, do you get left behind? “It’s a different world and it is changing at rapid speed. It takes a big investment and commitment to keep up with these changes, it’s a challenge” says Damianos. Needless to say, one I have no doubt that this skilled boater, whether anchored to his desk or found at sea can rise to. For this reason alone he is an Island Connoisseur in every way.

Thank you to George and the Damianos Sotheby’s International Realty team for being a part of the Experience.
