Island Inspirations – 5 Capture Worthy

Earlier this week in celebration of Queen Elizabeth’s 60-year reign I recognized here the granting of 18 island shields to The Bahamas by the monarch; a clear display of my affinity for the old Bahamas and days gone by. In the spirit of heralding the islands’ sanctity + progress it seems only natural now to show you how these island shields have been used at Schooner Bay – a relatively new development amongst our archipelago that is redefining the social fabric of a community all while reviving architectural traditions. Lastly, I wish to show those future Island “I DO” brides how these island shields can serve as a source of inspiration for their wedding invitation. How you might ask? Let’s begin with Joanna + Peter’s custom monogram. Look on and be island inspired.

– The wedding invitation of Joanna + Peter who celebrated their “Island I DO” in Harbour Island. Margot Hallac, owner + creator of Atelier Isabey, an award winning luxury invitations studio in NYC wrote, “Joanna and Peter came to us looking for unique wedding invitations that perfectly captured the spirit of their destination wedding whilst also maintaining a traditional invitation look and feel. They loved the idea of keeping the invitation card traditional and timeless, with crisp, engraved hand-calligraphy, and then celebrating the fun of the Bahamas on all the invitation accessories, such as coral inspired design motifs, personalized coat of arms and the hand-painted map we created just for them!” Images via here –

– Of course not the invitation of Kate Middleton Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William but that of Kathleen and William Peiffer who celebrated their Island “I DO” in The Bahamas at the Coral Sands Hotel. Images via here

Tell me brides which shield would inspire your custom wedding invitation?
