Kamalame Cay Escape Essentials

A week from today we’ll be arriving to Andros Island where we will celebrate our honeymoon for five days. At 104 miles long by 40 miles wide, Andros, with its hundreds of small inlets and cays, consists of an area greater than all the other 700 islands of The Bahamas combined. Recognized for having a coastline that hugs the second largest barrier reef in the world, the flats surrounding Andros also regularly beckon the avid permit, bonefish and tarpon angler. However, on this particular visit to the island, a first for the two of us, we intend not to wear the straw hat of recreational traveller, but connoisseurs of rest and relaxation – something neither of us do all that well, so do consider us connoisseurs in training. Other than rotating between the pool and the beach at Kamalame Cay, with a slew of books and cocktails at hand, we’ll regularly find ourselves playing cards or in a heated match of backgammon.
