Trinket Boxes at Tropical Accents + Gifts
Trinket boxes are this hoarder’s delight. At least that’s what CJ, my fiancé, has daringly dubbed me. Our tropical outpost is host to several tables laden with a collection of boxes in varying shapes and sizes, each taking on a similar tone in colour. During my most recent trip to George Town, Exumas I popped in to Tropical Accents + Gifts. There among trending coastal fashions I spotted intricate shell embellished boxes handmade by owner Cleopatra Turnquest.
“My fascination with Trinket Boxes began at the age of eleven. I can still remember itching with curiosity to peep inside my Godmother-Rena’s sparkly bejeweled trinket box. The longer it took for me to have a look inside the box, the more interesting it became. Thirty five years later, I am still fascinated with their exquisite craftsmanship” said Cleo.
I think now, as I thought then, how much I would love to incorporate this trinket box in to my own tablescape. Introducing a height in textures to an otherwise low-lying streamlined collection. Not to mention it will forever hold memories of my travels to the largest island among the Exuma chain of 365 islands.
