Island Inspirations – Crash Into Me
Last weekend I visited Cat Island, the land of mystique. Here roads are lined with plantation-era buildings which can be seen from the architectural wonder known as The Hermitage, a tiny chapel of the Holy Spirit perched atop the nation’s highest elevation. I stayed at Fernandez Bay Village (FBV) and there I rented a 13′ Boston Whaler.
Here’s a quick peek in to my travel log –
Hugging the western coastline of the 48-mile-long island we head South in the wake up Shane’s – the son of FBV owner Tony Armbrister – 23′ ana capri appropriately named “Soon Come”. We arrive to an unexplored stretch of sand – known to locals as Old Bight Beach – but known to many visitors to the island as heaven. Not a footprint in sight, the waves are rolling in, doing a rhythmic dance and they crash in to me…
How’s that for refreshing?

If you look closely………..you can see a little Chick Charnie Leap in the surf as the wave rolls in………..make sure to ask the Cat Islanders about the old folk-lore island stories……………on your return!
